No face is perfectly symmetrical. Try photographing someone face on, open the image in Photoshop and select half the face, then select “Layer Via Copy” use the Flip Horizontal tool and then drag the half face across to make a symmetrical image.

The finishing touches were added using Mextures and Afterlight for iPhone to create a surreal, dreamlike image.

Digital dreamlike surrealist photography created using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and various iPhone Apps.

Flash photography is not one of my strengths, so I’ve been working on improving. You can read or watch as many tutorials as you want but there’s no substitute actually for doing it.

I wanted to try experiment back lighting and I hate doing self portraits because even with self timers, remote controls and articulating LCD screens it’s still a pain.

Luckily my friend Linda agreed to be my test subject. I thought this one came out well and I did a minor edit in Photoshop CS6 using the new Field Blur and Colour Lookup filters.

Also I have a deal with Linda that if this photo has 1 million views I will give her $100.
